No surprises, no pressure

Exactly what happens at your first visit

Most practices keep this vague. We would rather you arrive knowing precisely what will happen, what it costs, and what comes next, because an informed patient is a relaxed one.

Reception at Lonehill Orthodontics

The visit, step by step

1

The consultation and clinical examination

You sit down with Dr Essop himself. He examines you or your child, listens to what has actually been bothering you, and gives you a straight answer on whether orthodontic treatment is indicated at all. Sometimes the honest answer is “not yet”, or “not needed”. You will hear that too.

2

Records, if treatment makes sense

If treatment is indicated, we take a complete set of records: photographs inside and outside the mouth, x-rays, and a digital 3D scan of your teeth. No impression trays and nothing to gag on. On the day, Dr Essop talks you briefly through what the scan shows.

3

Your own discussion appointment

Then we book a separate appointment to go through the full treatment plan and the quote. Why separately? Because Dr Essop analyses your records personally and builds a plan for your case alone. Nothing here is quoted on the spot, because nothing is guessed. The thoroughness is rather the point.

The discussion appointment is included in the records fee. You will leave it with a clear plan, a clear timeline and a clear cost, and you decide what happens next at your own pace.
Stated openly, because you were going to ask anyway

What it costs

Consultation only

The conversation and clinical examination with Dr Essop. The right starting point for most people.

R680

Full records and custom treatment plan

Photographs, x-rays, 3D scan, Dr Essop’s full analysis, and your discussion appointment, included.

R4 240

And the treatment itself?

Every case is different, which is exactly why the plan comes before the quote. As an honest range, comprehensive braces here run from R37 000 to R60 000, one banner for children, teenagers and adults alike, with most patients falling somewhere between. Early and interceptive treatment for children starts from around R5 000.

But the number that actually matters is the monthly one. We offer payment plans spread over 12 to 20 months, which turns treatment into a manageable monthly amount rather than a single figure to find up front. Most families are surprised by how workable it becomes.

Medical aid: we work with medical aids and we prepare the documentation your scheme needs so that you can apply for authorisation. You will not be left to fight that paperwork on your own. Policies vary, so it is worth checking what your plan covers before treatment starts.

Worth knowing before you come

Bring your referral, if you have one

Referred by your dentist? Bring their note. They will receive a full report, your records and a traced ceph afterwards, so your care stays joined up.

Bring whoever decides

Big decisions are easier together. Bring the person who will want to hear the plan first-hand.

Afternoons are lively

Our afternoons fill with school blazers and backpacks. If you would prefer somewhere quieter, ask reception for a morning slot.

WhatsApp us in office hours

Reception monitors WhatsApp Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:30. After hours, leave a message and we will reply first thing.

Ready when you are

One phone call books the consultation. Everything after that happens at your pace.
