Treatments

Four kinds of treatment, one specialist

Dr Essop examines, diagnoses and plans every case personally, whichever of these you end up in. Start wherever fits, or read all four — the honest answer is often that you need less than you expected.

Where to start

You do not have to know which one you need

Age is the usual sorting mechanism, and it is a rough one. A twelve-year-old and a forty-year-old can need the same appliance; two teenagers with similar-looking teeth can need very different plans. What actually decides it is the examination, the records and the diagnosis — which is what the first visit is for.

7 the age a first orthodontic check is worth having, even when nothing needs doing yet.

So read whichever page describes your situation, then come in. You will leave knowing what the problem is, which of these treats it, roughly how long it takes and exactly what it costs — in writing, before you commit to anything.

What it costs to find out

A consultation is R680. With full records, diagnosis and treatment planning, R4 240. Both are on the fees page, alongside the treatment fees themselves.

Four treatments

What we offer

Part of every plan

The parts nobody advertises

Treatment does not end when the braces come off. These are included in the planning conversation rather than sold separately.

Retainers

Teeth move for life. Every case finishes with retainers and a plan for wearing them, because relapse is the one avoidable disappointment in orthodontics.

Mouthguards

Available through the practice for patients playing contact sport in braces — ask at your next adjustment.

Work with your dentist

You keep seeing your own dentist throughout, and they get a written report on your case. More on the referrals page.

Whichever treatment

The same three things are true

A specialist does the work

Any dentist may fit braces. Dr Essop trained four further years in orthodontics alone — HPCSA DP0093483. Why that matters.

The fee is on the website

Comprehensive braces R37 000 to R60 000 for every age, medical aid explained, interest-free plans. On the fees page, not behind a form.

Nobody is talked into it

If treatment can wait, or is not needed, you will be told so — and sent home without an appliance.

Start with the examination

One visit tells you which of these four you are actually in, and what it will cost. It commits you to nothing.
